In honor of the late Dr. Anita Mantri, EnMed students held two community service events in her name, Lend-a-Hand Saturday and canned food drive. Mantri held a love for volunteering and giving back to her community, and since her passing in 2018, the students want to continue her legacy of giving, inspiring Lend-a-Hand Saturday.
This past fall, Lend-a-Hand Saturday took place at Urban Gardens in Houston where students aided in gardening, landscape, and clean up of the area.
For the local food drive, students collected 131 pounds of food! M3 and M4 students collected a total of 109 items, M2 students collected 75 items, and M1 students collected 15 items.
These two events could not have been possible without the Community Service Chair Antara Dattagupta and EnMed’s first class who developed and coordinated these events.
