About ENMED

Located in the Texas Medical Center (TMC) in Houston, the largest medical center in the world,  the School of Engineering Medicine features a revolutionary medical education program where students receive a medical doctorate and a master of engineering degree focused on the design and implementation of medical technologies during the four-year multidisciplinary curriculum.

ENMED evolved as a collaborative venture between award-winning institutions and recognized leaders. The program is administratively located in the School of Engineering Medicine and operates in close collaboration with Houston Methodist Hospital.  The School of Engineering Medicine’s aim is to transform healthcare through translational interdisciplinary research, the development of transformative medical technologies, and the formation and training of “Physicianeers.”

Graduates of ENMED will be early adopters of transformational technologies, maintain a vigilance for opportunities to innovate, and possess real-world experience in developing innovative medical products and processes acquired through multiple Innovation Immersion Experiences in which each future physicianeer identifies and develops a novel solution to an identified clinical need in collaboration with ENMED researchers, clinicians, and industry partners.
