Dr. Nivedita Ganguly is an infectious diseases physician and microbiologist with extensive experience in clinical microbiology, infectious diseases, and medical education. She serves as Co Course Director for the Introduction to Disease course, which provides foundational instruction in microbiology, immunology, pathology, and related pharmacology, integrated with early clinical reasoning. Within this course, she leads the microbiology curriculum. Dr. Ganguly also teaches organ specific microbiology and infectious diseases across the Respiratory, Musculoskeletal, and Endocrine Reproductive blocks and contributes to team based learning, clinical reasoning, and student mentorship.
Dr. Ganguly completed her MBBS degree at Calcutta Medical College, followed by an MD in Medical Microbiology from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, India. Early in her career, she worked as a clinical microbiologist in India and later served as a laboratory supervisor in Washington State (USA). She subsequently completed an Internal Medicine residency and an Infectious Diseases fellowship at the University of Kansas Medical Center, where she later practiced as an infectious diseases consultant before joining EnMed.
Dr. Ganguly brings a uniquely deep and diverse background to her teaching, shaped by full formal training and board certification in both clinical microbiology and infectious diseases. Her clinical experience spans rural, mid level, and tertiary care hospitals in India as well as advanced transplant and intensive care units in the United States. This dual country, dual specialty expertise provides broad exposure to endemic infections, complex clinical presentations, and resource variable diagnostic environments. These insights give her a strong understanding of real world gaps in infectious diseases practice—perspectives that directly support EnMed’s mission to identify unmet clinical needs and inspire engineering driven innovation.
