Omar Mohtar, MD, PhD, is a physician-scientist, startup operator, and innovation educator with more than a decade of experience spanning clinical research, healthcare technology, product development, and medical innovation. He currently serves as Assistant Professor of the Practice at the Texas A&M University School of Engineering Medicine and as Founder and CTO of ParaDocs Health, where he leads technical strategy and development for healthcare AI systems designed to improve clinical workflow efficiency, documentation quality, and patient care.

Dr. Mohtar’s work sits at the intersection of medicine, engineering, and entrepreneurship. His technical background includes full-stack software development, API design, cloud infrastructure, systems administration, healthcare data engineering, interoperability, and machine learning for clinical AI applications. At ParaDocs, he has built data infrastructure and domain-specific AI tools to support disease management, documentation review, workflow optimization, and decision support in healthcare settings.

Before joining Texas A&M, Dr. Mohtar was a Founder-in-Residence in the Texas Medical Center Innovation Biodesign Program, where he worked on digital healthcare product architecture and commercialization strategy. He also served as Telemedicine Project Lead at Boston Medical Center, leading HIPAA-compliant telemedicine protocol development during the pandemic. Earlier in his career, he completed doctoral research in Molecular Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine, where his work focused on metabolism, adipocyte biology, and transcriptional regulation.
