Every year on the third Friday in March, medical students nationwide participate in Match Day, a milestone that determines where they will begin residency training. For students at Texas A&M University School of Engineering Medicine, it’s a defining moment in their journey as “Physicianeers.”
In the months leading up to Match Day, students research residency training programs, interview, and submit a ranked list of preferences. The National Resident Matching Program then uses a complex algorithm to align student and program choices. On Match Day, the results are revealed to the students in an emotional ceremony that marks the next step in their medical journey.
For the third consecutive year, EnMed students achieved a 100% match rate on Match Day. This speaks volumes about the quality of the training and career preparation that EnMed students receive.

“I matched at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, North Carolina! I am so excited to have matched into OB/GYN – I came into medical school thinking I would most likely want to go into this field, and it was so rewarding to end up matching in my dream specialty,” said EnMed student Hanah Bass. “Additionally, I am so excited to continue my training close to my support system of family and friends and to spend my golden weekends on the beach!”
Of the students matched during Match Day 2025, nearly one-third of them will remain in Texas for their residency training at programs such as Houston Methodist, Baylor College of Medicine, and University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. Many students were matched at prestigious programs outside of Texas, such as Stanford Health Care, New York Presbyterian Hospital, and more. The top matched specialties among this year’s class included internal medicine, radiology-diagnostic, family medicine, surgery, and anesthesiology.
