Students from Houston Independent Schools will be central to EnMed’s summer engagement during a week-long collaboration in June to introduce students to professional opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, including high-demand careers in medicine during a camp titled “Future Doctors.”

“The free camp experience is for ninth and tenth graders excelling and showing promise in STEM education and future healthcare-oriented careers,” said Antara Dattagupta, a third-year EnMed student facilitator for the camp. “The program is designed to allow medical students to provide overviews and engaging activities that introduce the high school students to anatomy, physiology and pathology.”

Additionally, physicians from Houston Methodist Sports Medicine lend support to present opportunities in ancillary careers, including ultrasound, suturing, cardiology, in addition to occasions to shadow physicians on hospital patient rounds.
