Medical mission trip to Lima
Nickolas Mundo was the first EnMed student to join the Christian Medical Association on its annual medical mission trip.

Second-year EnMed student, Nickolas Mundo, and EnMed faculty member, Dr. Thomas Peterson, joined the Texas A&M College of Medicine’s medical missions team on a trip to Lima, Peru in 2020. The annual trip was organized by the student chapter of the Christian Medical Association (CMA).

Dr. Peterson has served as the faculty advisor and trip leader for the College of Medicine’s mission trips for 20 years and has accompanied medical students to countries including Mexico, Peru and Uganda.

“These trips provide a tremendous service opportunity for our medical students to practice their clinical skills and patient interaction training with people who cannot easily obtain health care,” Peterson said.

According to Peterson, the group saw nearly 1,000 patients in four days of clinics. Students also participated in healthcare information workshops, an eyeglass clinic and children’s ministry.
