EnMed will host its next Student Innovation Symposium from 1 to 6 p.m. on Monday, June 28. The event will celebrate the current research and innovation accomplishments of its medical students.
“From the first day students join EnMed, they are tasked with identifying current challenges in health care and offering solutions to address those problems,” said Dr. Ericka Greene, practice of medicine course director at EnMed and Sumner Family Chair in Neuromuscular Research at Houston Methodist Hospital. “This event will give students the opportunity to showcase their solutions thus far, while also networking with the biotechnology industry and other partners in the Texas Medical Center.”
The symposium will feature a keynote address from Dr. Ben Hertzog, an experienced medical device entrepreneur with a background in management consulting, venture capital, company formation and medical device innovation. Hertzog is currently an entrepreneur in residence with Johnson & Johnson’s Center for Device Innovation (CDI) at the Texas Medical Center. Prior to CDI, Hertzog was the founding CEO of Procyrion, an interventional cardiology start-up focused on acutely decompensated heart failure and cardiorenal syndrome.
The symposium will highlight innovation proposals of EnMed students. Top proposals will be recognized based on need, implementation and market analysis. Recognized students will receive monetary awards to support continuing education.
