Aavya Srivastava

Biomedical Engineering, Purdue University   

Aavya Srivastava is from Princeton, New Jersey, and graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering.

As an undergraduate, Aavya engaged in research and contributed to two primary projects: studying developmental gait patterns and the relationship between the gut microbiome and cartilage disease. Her work has been recognized through research symposiums and she received the Grubbs Undergraduate Research Scholarship for her research contributions. She also worked as a medical scribe in the emergency room and volunteered as a Crisis Intervention Specialist on the National Suicide Hotline. For her senior capstone project, Aavya helped develop a gluten allergen detection system, receiving a provisional patent for the team’s design.

Aavya chose the EnMed program because she is passionate about improving healthcare accessibility for underserved communities. She is excited to train at the intersection of engineering and medicine and hopes to develop innovative, affordable healthcare solutions that expand access to high-quality care for patients around the world.

In her free time, Aavya enjoys traveling, hiking, and trying new restaurants and coffee shops.
