Anthony Shatby
Computer Science, Texas A&M University
Anthony Shatby was born and raised in Houston, Texas. He graduated summa cum laude from Texas A&M University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and an AI-in-Business minor from Mays Business School. At Texas A&M, he completed the four-year Craig & Galen Brown Engineering Honors Program and earned the Undergraduate Research Scholars distinction through his research and thesis work.
During his undergraduate studies, Anthony’s research focused primarily on computational biology and genomics, particularly in tuberculosis. He analyzed large-scale TB datasets to investigate patterns of positive selection and later completed an honors thesis examining positive selection in TB isolates from patients with diabetes. He also developed an open-source ligand-fitting tool to computationally quantify how well ligands fit within their respective protein-binding sites.
Anthony completed two internships with Halliburton’s Data Science and Engineering team, where he gained experience developing agentic AI applications, building multi-agent AI systems, and automating data workflows. He also participated in several medical service trips to Egypt, where he volunteered in communities with limited access to medical care and helped create a customized EMR system used during the trips.
Anthony chose the EnMed program because of its encouragement for students to help shape the future of artificial intelligence in healthcare. He was also drawn to the opportunity to train in the Texas Medical Center, the world’s largest medical complex. Anthony hopes to contribute to AI-driven shifts that make medical care more personalized and effective while maintaining a clinical practice and meaningful, direct relationships with patients.
Outside of academics, Anthony enjoys exploring Houston’s diverse restaurants and coffee shops, following and playing soccer, and spending time with family and friends.
