Dion Ming

Biomedical Engineering, University of Florida       

Dion Ming is from Tampa, Florida, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Florida. During his time as an undergrad, he worked as a research assistant developing machine learning models to identify disease states across different ethnicities, contributing to more equitable diagnostic tools. This research proved impactful enough to earn publication into npj Digital Medicine, a Nature Partner Journal. He also served as an executive board member with Generational Relief in Prosthetics, developing assistive medical devices for children with limb differences, and worked as a patient transporter at Shands Hospital, where he gained firsthand exposure to clinical care. After graduation, Ming worked as an engineer at Boston Scientific, where he worked to develop a cardiac implant, deepening his expertise in medical device design and the regulatory rigor of bringing life-saving technology to market.

Ming chose the EnMed program to bridge engineering innovation with clinical medicine, to gain the expertise to create novel and effective solutions for patients. Throughout his medical career, he intends to keep blending these two identities, using his medical education to identify unmet clinical needs and his engineering expertise to ensure any solution he builds is effective and safe. Ming’s interest lies in surgery, medical device innovation, and interventional technology.

In his free time, Ming enjoys cooking and finding new restaurants around Houston. He also stays active playing sports and never misses a chance to catch a game with friends.
