Eric Gu

Biomedical Engineering, Texas A&M University     

Eric Gu is from Austin, Texas, and graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Texas A&M University. Throughout his time at Texas A&M, his research spanned infectious disease, neurology, and biostatistics: from studying antibiotic synergy against Enterococcus faecalis at Houston Methodist, to building machine learning models for epidemiological research in the Erickson Lab, to investigating maternal gut microbiome effects on aging at UTHealth’s BRAINS Lab.

Outside the lab, he lead outreach and sponsorship for Sling Health TAMU, a student-run medtech incubator and served on the external relations team for TAMU BUILD, where he helped raise six figures to fund mobile medical clinics that were donated worldwide. He previously worked as an MCAT Instructor, and currently serves as an MCAT Tutor for Kaplan where he can engage with his passion for helping students build the strategical insights and confidence to improve their scores.

He chose the EnMed program for the unparalleled opportunity to learn from like-minded engineering-trained classmates and faculty to bridge healthcare disparities. He seeks to contribute to diverse collaborators with his unique bridge of public/population health and engineering insights. Most importantly, he knows EnMed is the optimal environment to produce translational research and impactful innovation to improve patient outcomes over the next four years.
