Gabriel Mikhail

Computer Science, Texas A&M University       

Gabriel Mikhail is from Dallas, Texas, and graduated summa cum laude from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. During his undergraduate studies, Gabriel was recognized as a President’s Endowed Scholar for academic excellence in high school. He also served as a teaching assistant in the Department of Computer Science, developing lessons to help students learn foundational programming concepts.

As a member of the Systems and Technology for Medicine and IoT (STMI) Laboratory, Gabriel explored the intersection of artificial intelligence and medicine. The lab develops machine learning models that adapt to diverse patient populations and integrate multimodal clinical data, such as chest X-rays and clinical notes, to improve patient outcome prediction. Gabriel’s experience with this lab reinforced his desire to become a physician who understands both medicine and technology and the balance required to create useful patient-centered innovations.

In his junior year, Gabriel worked on a team of engineers and healthcare professionals to develop an electronic health record system for three hospitals in underserved villages in Egypt. He later traveled to Alexandria to assist with the implementation, where he worked with medical and dental teams as a translator. This experience solidified his core clinical interest in global health and improving healthcare access in underserved regions of the world.

Gabriel chose the EnMed program to develop both his clinical knowledge and computer science skills to be a physician who can advance patient care through innovation. He hopes to use his training to build a career centered around developing novel technologies to improve healthcare access and quality globally.

In his free time, Gabriel enjoys volunteering at his church, painting, and swimming.
