Taylor Gloystein

Biomedical Engineering, Clemson University   

Taylor Gloystein is from Prattville, Alabama and graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Clemson University.

During her time at Clemson University, Taylor served as President of the Bioengineering Student Advisory Council, the Social and Service Coordinator of Alpha Eta Mu Beta (Biomedical Engineering Honors Society), the Professional Development Chair of the Clemson Bioengineering Organization, and the intramural chair for Kappa Delta Sorority. She was an active participant in research, working both in a regenerative medicine laboratory at the Medical University of South Carolina through the Clemson BEACH program and in the Biocompatibility and Tissue Regeneration Lab during her junior and senior year. She was honored to receive two awards–the Larry S. Bowman Outstanding Bioengineering Junior Award and the Samuel B. Earle Award for an outstanding senior in the College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences.

Last summer, Taylor was an American Heart Association Summer Undergraduate Fellow at Penn Cardiovascular Institute, where she had the opportunity to perform computational research at the Penn Imaging and Computing Science Lab. Following her research at Penn, she was selected to present this research during the Cardiovascular Engineering Undergraduate Fire Talks at the Biomedical Engineering Society Annual Meeting (2025) in San Diego, CA.

Taylor chose the EnMed program because she is passionate about serving at the forefront of medicine and would use this dual-mindset to bridge the gap between engineering and healthcare. She is passionate about cardiothoracic medicine, surgery, and radiology, and plans to apply her engineering perspective throughout her practice–creating technology that can address the needs of her patients facing current medical challenges. During her time at EnMed, Taylor is excited to connect with the greater Houston community, by engaging in clinical research and volunteering with local clinics and organizations.

Outside of her studies, Taylor loves the outdoors and going on adventures–whether playing soccer with her fellow classmates, hiking Glacier National Park, or deep sea fishing in the Gulf. She loves trying new foods and is excited to explore Houston further. She also enjoys discovering a new fun coffee shop in the city, reading a good book, or playing pickleball or golf in her spare time.
