Taylor Ly

Biomedical Engineering, Boston University       

Taylor Ly (He/They) is from Sugar Land, Texas, and graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Boston University. As an undergraduate, Taylor contributed to EEG- and fMRI-based research investigating sleep deprivation, mood, and brain activity at the Lewis Lab at Boston University. This work earned him the Distinguished Summer Research Fellowship and Student Research Award.

After graduating, Taylor worked as an EMT with Acadian Ambulance, serving patients throughout the greater Houston area, and as a research coordinator in the Menninger Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Baylor College of Medicine. There, he contributed to studies investigating depression and substance use disorders using fMRI and brain stimulation modalities, particularly TMS. This research has been published and presented at conferences including GCC, CPDD, and ADAA.

Taylor chose the EnMed program because they were drawn to the opportunity to learn from both physicians and engineers while integrating engineering and medicine throughout their career. They hope to continue developing technologies that improve accessibility and patient care while training to think like both a physician and an engineer.

In their free time, Taylor enjoys practicing yoga, trying new coffee shops, and spending time with friends and family. They can often be found at home with their two cats, Bean and Taco, or at the park with their dog, Teddy.
