EnMed, the education program of Texas A&M University School of Engineering Medicine, hosted a day of events for the 2022 Houston Tech Rodeo on March 3. The day featured keynote sessions, along with an exhibition and student poster session showcasing imaginative innovations that connected EnMed students and industry influencers in one shared space within the Texas Medical Center.

EnMed provided the backdrop to meet and explore ideas from the breakout entrepreneurs, faculty and students on the frontline of redefining and driving tomorrow’s technologies and devices in a rapidly evolving medical industry.

“We were happy to contribute and be a part of the impactful annual celebration bringing together local and international leaders and communities in the technology entrepreneurial ecosystem,” said Roderic I. Pettigrew, Ph.D., M.D., CEO and inaugural dean of the School of Engineering Medicine.

“Our guests for the day represented stakeholders, including entrepreneurs, investors, corporations, universities, nonprofits and governmental agencies. EnMed’s faculty and students successfully demonstrated innovations in medical technologies that could lead in medical therapeutics and protocols in the future,” continued Pettigrew.

Additionally, EnMed’s faculty and students played an integral part in addressing and debating issues facing the medical industries at this current moment — as the country’s epicenter of diversity and major industry transitions collectively across health care, sustainable energy and aerospace, for example. “EnMed faculty and students continue to uncover the big changes and the subtle trends within the medical industries and sphere by shaping the world as we know it,” added Pettigrew.

“EnMed’s partnership with the Houston Tech Rodeo proves that the most impactful discoveries happen when diverse topics and people come together,” said Pettigrew. “The Tech Rodeo corrals the greatest minds in the global and local tech community to spur world-changing innovation in the heart of America’s most diverse city where innovation and industry converge — and the future of engineering medicine technologies.”

The Houston Tech Rodeo is a festival that celebrates the convergence of popular culture and innovation in Houston. Founded in 2020, the Houston Tech Rodeo is a series of events organized by Houston Exponential, a 501(c)3 nonprofit. The Houston Tech Rodeo has quickly transformed into an essential destination for founders (present and future) and talented individuals to spur new connections and ideas while highlighting all that Houston has to offer, including engineering medicine.
