Chemical Engineering, Rice University

Kristina Montez graduated from Rice University in 2023 and holds a bachelor of science Chemical Engineering. Montez chose the EnMed program because of the strong collaboration and innovative culture nurtured by faculty, staff, and the student body.

In the summer before attending college, she interned with the Nutrition Services Department in the Houston Independent School District (HISD), gaining valuable experience in the development and implementation of nutritional initiatives within schools.

During her undergraduate career, Montez was involved in pediatric cardiology research, developing workflows to generate 3D models for computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling. As a physicianeer, Montez is excited to explore different fields in medicine to better identify and address opportunities for improved patient-centered care. Her current research interests include surgery, cardiology, and pediatrics.

At Texas A&M School of Engineering Medicine, Montez is actively involved in EnMed’s Health Innovations club, and she is passionate about mentorship to support students in their educational endeavors. During her free time, she enjoys taking walks, cooking, baking, and working on a variety of arts projects, such as painting, cross-stitching, stained glass, and creating digital comic books.
