Adithya Shastry is from Coppell, Texas and graduated BA in Physics from Colby College, followed by a BS in Biomedical Engineering and an MS in Biomedical Engineering, both at Columbia University. At Colby College, Shastry was named a Bunche Scholar at Colby College and earning the Best TA Award from the Physics Department. He also achieved 2nd place in the Biomedical Engineering Senior Design Competition at Columbia University. Additionally, he led the design team for NASA’s Micro-g Competition and was awarded Coach of the Year for his work with the Science Olympiad team that placed 5th in the Maine State competition.

Shastry has significant experience in healthcare and community engagement. As a Research Assistant with the Maine Concussion Management Initiative, he streamlined the data collection processes and helped design a mobile app that helps collect data with minimal training. He volunteered in the ER at Maine General Hospital, where he assisted with patient care and also served as an EMT with Colby Emergency Response, providing triage and treatment for his fellow students. As a Research Assistant at New York Psychiatric Institute (NYSPI), he contributed to research on schizophrenia, helping his team publish multiple papers. Additionally, he led the Colby Consulting Club, providing business insights to local companies.

Shastry chose the EnMed program because of its unique integration of engineering, innovation, and entrepreneurship within the context of medical education. He values how the program equips students with both technical skills and a strong foundation in medicine, preparing them to become both exceptional physicians and innovators in the field.

Shashtry has a deep passion for Carnatic music, having studied the Carnatic saxophone under the guidance of his guru for the past two and a half years. He enjoys practicing and performing this complex and beautiful art form. In his spare time, he also likes to watch movies, swim, play golf, and engage in weightlifting.
