Bioengineering, Clemson University

Aaron Spearman is from Greenville, South Carolina, and graduated summa cum laude from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science in bioengineering. During his time at Clemson, he concentrated on entrepreneurship and developing medical technologies for low-resource settings. For his senior design project, Aaron and his team created a device that used biomarkers to enable early detection of acute kidney injury. Their work earned multiple accolades, including the Kidney Technology Prize in the NIH DEBUT competition, 1st place at the Clemson SPARK Challenge, and 2nd place at the ACC InVenture Prize.

After graduation, Aaron became a certified EMT and began working for a 911 emergency service in Gaffney, South Carolina. Simultaneously, he and his team continued to advance their senior design project by participating in the dC3i medical technology incubator and filing a provisional patent.

Aaron chose to pursue his medical education at EnMed to merge his clinical training with innovation. He hopes to improve prehospital and emergency care through design and entrepreneurship, using his experience as a physician to identify critical gaps and develop impactful solutions. Aaron plans to utilize the unique resources at EnMed to achieve these goals.

In his free time, Aaron enjoys spending time outdoors. He is an avid rock climber, kayaker, and skier. Aaron is always in pursuit of new adventures to share with friends and family.
