Abhinaya Muruganandham
Biomedical Engineering, Texas A&M University
Abhinaya Muruganandham is from Sugar Land, Texas, and graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering and a minor in Bioinformatics from Texas A&M University. During her time as an undergrad, she dedicated her time to projects in computational biology, leading to publications in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, Molecular Cancer Research, and Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications.
She was also involved in medical device innovation and secured funding for her projects through pitch competitions, including A&M’s IDEAS Challenge, the Meloy Innovator’s Award, Aggie PITCH, and Sling Health’s Demo Day. Alongside her undergraduate studies, she has served on leadership teams for student organizations that trained college students in advanced first aid to support collegiate EMS and volunteered in K-5 classrooms in the community.
Muruganandham chose EnMed because she hopes to integrate bioinformatics, hardware-based solutions, and an innovative mindset to improve preventative medicine and personalized practice. She also looks forward to engaging with the community at EnMed and the surrounding population through volunteer efforts targeted at uplifting others through education.
In her free time, Muruganandham enjoys a good historical fiction novel, painting on rainy days, and taking long walks with friends. She can usually be found curled up with a good book and a cup of chai.
