Biomedical Engineering, Texas A&M University

Anav Chopra grew up in Flower Mound, Texas, and graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Texas A&M University. During his undergraduate career, Anav conducted research through the Texas A&M School of Medicine under Dr. Ashok K. Shetty, where he investigated the role of permethrin exposure in accelerating the onset of Alzheimer’s pathology. His work earned him the Dean’s Recognition Award for Best Poster Presentation at the Texas A&M School of Medicine Summer Research Poster Session.

In addition to his research efforts, Anav co-invented a stable securement device for transcutaneous circulatory support, designed to improve the safety and mobility of patients ambulating on ECMO. He has also held leadership roles in Century Men’s Society, a service-oriented organization at Texas A&M that raised over $60,000 for Camp Kesem, a summer camp for children whose parents have been affected by cancer. Anav also dedicated time to his community by volunteering as a youth basketball and soccer coach.

Anav chose EnMed because it offers a structured and forward-thinking environment where he will not only be trained as a physician providing excellent patient care but also as an engineer equipped to enhance the accessibility and efficacy of therapeutic innovations. He is especially drawn to EnMed’s emphasis on cutting-edge technology and interdisciplinary collaboration to improve healthcare delivery and outcomes.

Outside of academics, Anav enjoys playing sports, going to the gym, trivia nights, watching a wide variety of TV shows and movies, listening to music, and spending time with friends and family.
