Jason Zhang
Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Arizona
Jason Zhang is from Tucson, Arizona, and graduated summa cum laude with honors from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering. As an undergrad, he conducted research in the Model Based Design Lab under Dr. Jerzy Rozenblit and collaborated with Dr. William Killgore to develop a virtual reality (VR) neuropsychological assessment program, which resulted in a publication in the Journal of the International Neuropsychological Society.
Jason was the HoloLens Integration Lead for his senior design capstone project “Mixed Reality Diagnostic and Treatment System” which won the Ball Aerospace Award for Best System Software Design and the Andressen Award for Design Above and Beyond out of 99 teams. Additionally, Jason worked with Dr. Eugene Chang, a Rhinologist, to develop a VR skull base surgical simulator and, as the entrepreneurial lead and Chief Technical Officer, cofounded his first startup, SurgicalSteps, with the support from the regional and the national NSF Innovation Corps (I-Corps) entrepreneurial training programs.
Jason chose EnMed for the opportunity to collaborate with people from diverse engineering backgrounds who share a passion for both advancing medical technologies and practicing medicine. He is eager to integrate his interests in engineering, medicine, and entrepreneurship to drive innovation in healthcare and address complex medical challenges.
In his free time, Jason enjoys swimming, playing piano, and spending quality time with family and friends.
