Biomedical Engineering, University of Houston-Main Campus

Oluwadurotimi “Timi” Agbesanwa was born and raised in Houston, Texas, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering with a concentration in Bionanoscience from the University of Houston. During his undergraduate studies, Timi completed a senior capstone project focused on using explainable artificial intelligence for early stroke diagnosis. He completed a diverse range of projects, which included modeling a pacemaker electrode, developing a cardiovascular risk calculator, and exploring neural synchrony during art appreciation. His dedication to research earned him a spot in the SMART Program, where he conducted research on respiratory physiology and presented his work at national conferences such as ABRCMS and SACNAS.

Timi served as a mentor for several student organizations, including the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) and the Biomedical Engineering Society. He was a part of NSBE’s Pre-Collegiate Initiative Committee, which provides early exposure to engineering for school-aged children. Timi also worked as a resident advisor and tutor, supporting students across academic, social, and personal development, and founded the Intramural Sports Committee within the University of Houston Housing Department to encourage wellness through recreational sports.

Timi chose EnMed because he is passionate about using technology not just to improve outcomes but to reimagine how care is delivered. EnMed’s training in clinical medicine and engineering empowers students to go beyond treating symptoms by designing transformative, scalable solutions. Timi sees this as the ideal environment to grow as a physician who can identify gaps in care and create impactful technologies to address them.

In his free time, you can find Timi trying new ice cream flavors, playing basketball, or exploring new hobbies.
