Biomedical Engineering, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

Rachel Gentile is from Raleigh, North Carolina, and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2024 with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering.

As an undergraduate, she conducted research at UNC’s Eshelman School of Pharmacy to develop vaccine adjuvants and nanoparticle carriers to improve immune responses and at North Carolina’s Biotechnology Center to develop gene-specific therapies to activate epigenetically silenced tumor suppressor genes. She also worked on several engineering projects and mentored high school students through a volunteer organization.

After graduation, Rachel worked alongside various pharmaceutical, medical device, software, and manufacturing companies as an engineering analyst. She looks forward to EnMed’s integration of medicine and engineering and the opportunity to train at Texas Medical Center. She is interested in global public health research as well as combining clinical care with local outreach and community service as a physician.

Rachel’s hobbies include running, swimming, skiing, reading, trying new coffee shops, and going on walks.
