Shalini Namuduri
Bioengineering, University of California Berkeley
Shalini Namuduri grew up in Dallas, Texas, and graduated with honors from the University of California, Berkeley, with a Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering (concentration in Cell and Tissue Engineering and Synthetic Biology) and a minor in Music.
Before college, she completed a clinical research internship at SpectralMD, a biomedical imaging startup. During her undergraduate years, she conducted community outreach through the Society of Women Engineers, mentored premedical students and organized service initiatives as the Service Chair of Phi Delta Epsilon, and served as Assistant Concertmaster of the UC Berkeley Symphony Orchestra.
Shalini’s research interests lie at the intersection of synthetic biology and regenerative medicine. At the Innovative Genomics Institute, she worked in the Dueber Lab on developing a synthetic biology toolkit for a novel yeast strain. She later joined the MacKenzie Lab at UCSF, where she contributed to preclinical studies of an in utero gene therapy for Angelman Syndrome.
After graduation, Shalini worked as a clinical engineer at Promaxo, an MRI technology startup, managing 22 accounts across 12 states and traveling weekly to support image-guided procedures in clinical sites across the country.
Shalini is excited to begin medical school at EnMed. She believes that as technology reshapes healthcare, physicians must serve as innovators and advocates for patient-centered design and implementation. As a physicianeer, she hopes to ensure that emerging medical technologies are developed and deployed with compassion, equity, and the lived experiences of patients at the forefront.
In her free time, Shalini enjoys reading, playing South Indian classical violin, and spending time with her friends, family, and her cat, Luna.
