Cailin O’Connell is from Missouri City, Texas and graduated from Texas A&M University in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering and a minor in Radiological Health. Her undergraduate years were spent exploring how radiation affects the public, patients, and astronauts alike, as well as the prevention of non-medical radiation exposure to the public.
O’Connell’s clinical interests include early cancer screening and detection, and she hopes to pursue a residency in Diagnostic Radiology. Between her third and fourth years of medical school, she joined the Texas A&M Academy of Physician Scientists research program to explore nanotheranostics for ovarian cancer at the Houston Methodist Research Institute. She helped to found the Maroon Health Free Clinic and enjoys tutoring and mentoring medical students. In her free time, O’Connell likes training her rescue dog Kodak, exploring nearby natural areas, and reading science fiction.
