Chemical Engineering, Texas A&M University

Lauren Fitzgerald was raised in Burleson, Texas, and received her Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering at Texas A&M University. During her time as an undergraduate student, Fitzgerald was involved in a wide variety of volunteer organizations, had spent two summers interning with BASF, and was involved in research that crossed the bridge between microbiology and chemical engineering.

While she loved the science behind chemical engineering, Fitzgerald began to realize that a typical chemical engineering career was not the right fit for her. Due to her love of math, chemistry, and the Aggie spirit, Fitzgerald felt increasingly drawn towards medicine as her college career went on, and made the decision to go back to school to pursue to her passion shortly after graduation. With taking classes and working and volunteering in the medical field, she knew she had made the right decision.

However, Fitzgerald noticed that there seemed to be a lot of opportunity for growth and improvement in the medical field. When she heard about the EnMed program, she knew it would be the perfect way to pursue her passion for medicine and apply her engineering knowledge to help combat challenges facing the medical field.

In her free time, Fitzgerald enjoys traveling, hiking, running, reading, and spending time with friends and family.

After graduation, Fitzgerald will further their medical career at the University of Texas Medical School in Houston, TX, specializing in dermatology.
