WHY ENMED?

Basil Alias

EnMed educates invention-and innovation-minded, problem-solving physician engineers, or “physicianeers” – who will be uniquely qualified to make significant contributions to the transformation of health care through the design and development of innovative medical technologies that address some of health care’s greatest challenges.

In addition to the clinical training provided through the state’s top-ranked Houston Methodist Hospital, EnMed students gain experience contributing to all parts of the innovation process of translating novel medical technologies into real-world applications in the nation’s first fully integrated engineering and medical education curriculum accredited by the LCME. Graduates of EnMed receive both a doctorate of medicine and master’s in engineering in four years.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
  1. A baccalaureate in engineering or computer science from an accredited institution in the U.S. and/or its territories
(We also consider non-engineering degrees, provided there is evidence of interest and activity or research related to engineering design and/or medical device innovation and entrepreneurship.)
  2. U.S. citizenship or U.S. Permanent Residency (Green Card Holders)
  3. Prerequisite Courses
