Congratulations to M2 students Aamuktha Porika and Koyal Ansingkar for their remarkable achievements at the American Society of Human Genetics (ASHG) 2024 Annual Meeting in Denver, Colorado and the International Society of Computational Biology (ISMB) 2024 Annual Meeting in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Their posters were accepted at both conferences!
In Denver, Ansingkar’s original research, “Computational Analysis of Microbiome Genetics in Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma,” was selected for a prestigious podium presentation, selecting from nearly 3,000 posters. Her work explores the potential role of microbiota in the pathogenesis of these cancers.
During this same meeting, Porika also presented her study, “Deciphering Genetic Associations in Autoimmune Thyroid Diseases for Drug Repurposing” highlighting new pathways for understanding and treating these conditions.
Additionally, Porika and Ansingkar were invited to present their research at the International Society of Computational Biology (ISMB) 2024 annual meeting in Montreal. Porika’s podium presentation focused on analyzing genetic links in autoimmune thyroid diseases to identify opportunities for drug repurposing. Ansingkar presented her poster examining the potential role of vaginal microbiota in cancer development.
Their successful abstract acceptance and invitation to present on the podium at these international meetings showcase the incredible talent and dedication of EnMed students in pushing the boundaries of genetic and computational research.
