Jeremy Gibson, MD

Dr. Jeremy Gibson is a passionate educator, a dedicated leader, and a family man who lives every day with purpose, humor, and a spirit of adventure. As the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Medical Education at the Texas A&M School of Engineering Medicine (EnMed), he is deeply committed to creating a dynamic and innovative learning environment where students can thrive. He finds joy in building a bridge between engineering and medicine, guiding a new generation of “physicianeers” to help transform healthcare.

At EnMed, Dr. Gibson is crucial in overseeing the school’s innovative blended curriculum, ensuring it meets accrediting standards while creating a fair and high-quality educational experience for all students. Whether managing administrative operations or engaging in conversations with students about their academic journeys, Dr. Gibson is devoted to creating a welcoming environment where everyone can succeed. 

A Texas native, Dr. Gibson grew up in Lufkin, calling Tyler home, and takes pride in being the first in his family to graduate from college and medical school. Married to his wife Lisa for 33 wonderful years, he’s a proud dad to Emily, 23, and Jake, 20. Family is his anchor, the core of his values, and a continual source of joy and inspiration.

Before joining EnMed, Dr. Gibson was the Vice Dean for Education Affairs at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine, focusing on student affairs and accreditation. As the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at Texas A&M University College of Medicine, he was the force behind securing Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) accreditation for the Engineering Medicine Track, ensuring a high standard of education even during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Outside of his professional life, Dr. Gibson engages in various hobbies that keep him active and creative. When he’s not working, he can often be found in his running shoes, as he has been a long-distance runner since elementary school, completing everything from 5Ks to full marathons. He also enjoys the tranquility of bass fishing from his kayak, where he can unwind and appreciate nature.  

He and his daughter recently started playing bass guitar together, turning music-making into a family-fun activity. Also, Dr. Gibson has a creative side, enjoying American Indian bead-working and collects vintage medicine-related license plate toppers from the 1930s to the 1970s, as well as Zuni fetishes.

Dr. Gibson draws inspiration from his favorite quote, Micah 6:8, which encourages us to “act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly.” These words echo through his work, his family life, and every interaction, making him not just a leader, but a friend and mentor to many. Whether he is supporting students on their academic journeys or cherishing time with his family, Dr. Gibson embodies a balance of passion and commitment that inspires everyone around him.
