Timothy B. Boone, MD, PhD, DSc (hon), FACS, is the dean of the Texas A&M School of Engineering Medicine (EnMed). He holds the Emeritus Craig C. Brown and Suzanne Smith Centennial Chair in Medical Education at Houston Methodist and is an emeritus professor of urology.

Boone earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Southwestern University. He earned both a master’s degree in physiology and a doctorate in neuroscience from The University of Texas Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, as well as a Doctor of Medicine from The University of Texas Medical School at Houston. He completed urology and surgery residency training at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas.

Throughout a career spanning more than three decades, Boone has held faculty appointments at leading academic medical centers while developing deep clinical expertise in treating patients with incontinence following prostatectomy, complex voiding disorders in women, and bladder dysfunction related to neurologic disease, including spinal cord injury, stroke, multiple sclerosis, and Parkinson’s disease.

He began his academic career as an assistant professor in the Department of Urology at UT Southwestern in 1991 before moving to the Scott Department of Urology at Baylor College of Medicine, where he rose to professor and served as the Russell Scott Chair from 2000 to 2008.

In 2008, Boone joined Houston Methodist, where he established and chaired the Department of Urology while building a urology residency and nationally recognized program in neurourology and female pelvic medicine until 2022.

Recognizing the institution’s growing academic mission, he assumed the role of chief education officer and designated institutional official for the Houston Methodist Academic Institute in 2013, during which time he helped launch three new graduate medical education programs at regional hospitals. In this pivotal role, he was instrumental in establishing Houston Methodist Hospital as a clinical campus for the Texas A&M College of Medicine in 2016 and was a founding force in developing and launching the School of Engineering Medicine (EnMed).

Boone has authored more than 160 peer-reviewed publications and delivered hundreds of lectures regionally and nationally while serving as a visiting professor at major academic medical centers. He was elected a trustee of the American Board of Urology in 2006 and served as president from 2011 to 2012. He maintains memberships in the American Association of Genitourinary Surgeons, the Clinical Society of Genitourinary Surgeons and the American Urological Association. In 2025, he was named board of trustees at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas.

In recognition of his contributions to urology and medical education, Boone has received numerous honors, including the Victor Politano Award from the Urology Care Foundation (2018), the Blaivis Lectureship Lifetime Achievement Award from the Society for Urodynamics (2012), Female Urology and Urogenital Reconstruction (2012), and induction into the Super Doctors Hall of Fame (2019). He has been listed in America’s Top Doctors for 20 consecutive years.
