Bioenegineering, Rice University

Cooper Lueck was raised in Houston, TX and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Bioengineering from Rice University. During his time at Rice, Lueck’s research in Adeno-Associated Virus vectors for delivery of gene therapy earned him distinction in Research and Creative Works. CephaloPump, his senior design project that aimed to reduce ventriculoperitoneal shunt blockages/insufficient drainage, earned over $20,000 in prizes from local and national engineering competitions.   After graduating, Lueck began researching in Rice’s Non-Invasive Neuroengineering Department, focusing on better understanding the interplay between focused ultrasound technology and traumatic brain injuries.   Lueck chose EnMed because of the novel approach of its curriculum in combining both traditional medical pedagogy with engineering and medical technology concepts. He hopes that through this program he will be better prepared to identify needs within current medical practice and understand how best to develop marketable solutions to those needs.   In his free time, Lueck sings baritone with a community choir, Houston Choral Society. He also enjoys weekly DMing for his Dungeons and Dragons group and spending time with his family and friends.
