EVENT RECAP: Celebrating Community at the 2024 EnMed Semester Kick-Off

The 2024 EnMed Semester Kick-Off gathered students, staff, and faculty on the green lawn to celebrate the beginning of the academic year. Despite a brief shower of rain, everyone enjoyed a fun-filled day with laughter, lawn games, and delicious food from local food trucks. It was a fantastic opportunity for the community to come together and enjoy campus life at EnMed.

Despite a little rain, the EnMed community’s spirits remained undampened as students and staff embraced the day, finding joy in unpredictable moments.

Laughter and friendly competition filled the air, with plenty of lawn games to keep everyone entertained, including badminton, volleyball, Jenga, ladder toss, corn hole, and more!

The Semester Kick-Off also had delicious treats from local Houston food trucks, like the Dough Cone’s doughy ice cream, crunchy tacos from BLK MKT Birria, and a healthy selection of fruits and vegetables.

Special guests Dr. Boone and Dr. Gibson mingled with students and staff, showing true Aggie spirit. Dr. Boone gave a heartfelt speech about EnMed and announced the raffle winners.

Three lucky winners walked away with lunch gift cards: Dr. Nicholas Sears, M1 student Peter Jang, and M2 student Kristina Montez. Congrats!

The faculty and staff gathered in large numbers, engaging in games and socializing with colleagues and students.

Students enjoyed the much-needed break, taking the opportunity to relax, breathe fresh air, and socialize with friends.

Above all, the kick-off was a time for everyone, faculty, staff, and students alike, to meet, mingle, and enjoy the community in a relaxed, informal setting.
