Alyssa Barone
Biomedical Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology
Allie Barone is from Atlanta, Georgia, and graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. During her time as an undergrad, she dedicated her time to projects in Global and Public Health, leading to her filing her first provisional patent, becoming an ACC InVenture Prize Finalist, a Rice360 Global Health Technologies Design Competition Finalist, and becoming a co-founder of her first start-up company through the Create-X Start-Up Launch. Alongside her undergraduate studies, she also earned her EMT-B and AEMT licenses. After graduation, Barone worked full-time as the lead provider on an ALS ambulance for Grady EMS, one of the country’s busiest and most advanced 911 EMS services, serving the entire city of Atlanta.
Barone chose EnMed because she hopes to leverage cutting-edge innovations to benefit health equity, support low-resource environments, and improve outcomes for at-risk populations. She plans to employ her engineering mindset throughout every aspect of her career as a physician, and has interests in surgery, emergency medicine, global health, and public health. Barone also looks forward to engaging with the community at EnMed and in Houston through volunteering, especially with EnMed’s community health clinics.
In her free time, Barone enjoys a bit of adventure, whether by exploring new restaurants and attractions in the city, cooking new recipes from different cuisines, or playing some games with friends. She can usually be found in the kitchen baking sweet treats, or snuggled up on the couch with her adorable kitty, Olive.
