Anokhi Kholwadwala
Astronautical Engineering, University of Southern California
Anokhi Kholwadwala is from Albuquerque, New Mexico. She moved to Los Angeles for college, where she obtained both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Astronautical Engineering from the University of Southern California. At USC, she focused on human-centered aviation and spaceflight. Over consecutive summers, she worked with the Boeing Company—first on the Confident Travel Initiative during the COVID pandemic and later on the Starliner spacecraft at Kennedy Space Center. Additionally, as president of USC’s medical device design team, MEDesign, she became familiar with the Biodesign process. She also worked at the Ellison Institute for Transformative Medicine, where she was introduced to the interdisciplinary nature of modern medicine.
After graduating Summa Cum Laude, Kholwadwala moved to Washington, D.C. and worked for two years as a Boeing systems engineer. During that time, she also gained experience as a scribe at an orthopedic urgent care and volunteered at a pediatric oncology center.
The EnMed Program appealed to Kholwadwala due to her desire to merge medicine and astronautical engineering. The campus’s proximity to the TMC and Johnson Space Center, along with its unparalleled resources and commitment to physicianeering, offers her numerous opportunities to contribute meaningfully at the intersection of these fields.
Outside of her professional pursuits, Kholwadwala has a passion for traveling. During her two years living on the East Coast, she explored both local and international destinations, including Maine, the Outer Banks, Delaware beaches, Montreal, the Azores, Patagonia, Iceland, Copenhagen, India, and Singapore. She also loves to eat and to write about food. Kholwadwala enjoys all cuisines, has an insatiable sweet tooth, and is excited to explore Houston’s gastronomic scene while in medical school.
