Biomedical Engineering, Purdue University
Jason Schutt was born and raised in Crown Point, Indiana. During his undergraduate career at Purdue University, he was involved in several clubs, worked as a patient-care assistant at a local hospital, and served as a mentor for the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering. One of the clubs Schutt was most passionate about was Reinventing the Interface of Inclusivity, Sports, and Engineering, or RIISE for short. Schutt served as the director for the club and worked to raise awareness for those with physical disabilities through adaptive sports clinics, engineering projects, and public information campaigns. Following graduation, Schutt worked as a test engineer in Bloomington, IN performing mechanical and material testing on needles, catheters, and guidewires for Cook Medical. Currently, Schutt is the president of EnMed Health Innovations, member of the Aggie Ambassadors, and is involved in various research endeavors. In the classroom, Schutt aspires to obtain a residency in general surgery, with an eventual fellowship in pediatrics.
Schutt chose EnMed because of the unique opportunities presented in a blended curriculum. Schutt has always enjoyed working with teams of varying expertise to solve real world problems and saw EnMed as an opportunity to continue to do so. The collaborations at EnMed help set the school apart from other medical schools. In addition, the ability to be partnered with a world-class institution, such as Houston Methodist, made EnMed an easy choice.
Aside from school, Schutt is very passionate about the White Sox, Blackhawks, and Purdue athletics. He is always looking to spend more time outside or with friends playing disc golf, board games, or just about any sport.
