Biomedical Engineering, University of Texas
Landon A. Hackley was born and raised in Arlington, TX before heading to Austin, TX to receive his bachelor of science degree in Biomedical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin. As an undergraduate student, Hackley spent a summer in pediatric oncology research at UT Southwestern Medical Center, two years in surgical oncology research at Dell Medical School, and one year in UT Austin’s Biomimetic Microengineering laboratory.
Hackley was also heavily involved in community-based health projects through Dell Medical School’s Health Leadership Apprentice Program, where he both participated as an apprentice and later served as Student Coordinator for the program. He served as a mentor to over 100 students throughout his 2 year tenure as Student Coordinator and assisted with the development of several apprentice-run projects that are improving the health landscape of Travis County to this day.
Before matriculating to EnMed, Hackley spent three years as a software engineer for the Department of Defense where he assisted in the development of sonar technology and unmanned underwater vehicles for the US Navy.
Outside of the classroom, Hackley is passionate about volunteering to serve homeless populations across Texas, practicing personal fitness through rock climbing and disc golf, and spending time with friends and family.
