Materials Science Engineering, Johns Hopkins University
Rasha Bara was born and raised in Houston, TX, and has a bachelor of science in Materials Science Engineering from Johns Hopkins University. During her undergraduate career, Bara’s research focused on developing an embolization device to block hemorrhages. She also researched lung cancer therapies at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
On campus, Bara was a resident advisor, where she mentored and connected with her peers more deeply. She also loved volunteering with local youth, teaching them science via interactive experiments.
After graduating in May 2019, Bara entered Venture for America’s fellowship program, which propelled her to join a health tech start-up, Tissue Analytics (now a Net Health Company). At Tissue Analytics, she worked as a project manager, alongside physicians, wound care nurses, engineers, and EHR analysts. This cross-collaboration motivated her to combine both engineering and medicine as a research coordinator at Baylor College of Medicine. There, she worked directly with patients in clinical trials which assessed wearable medical devices.
At EnMed, Bara hopes to continue to combine her passions of bridging healthcare with innovative technologies, to ensure patients receive optimal care. In her free time, Bara loves spending time with her family, trying new restaurants, and going on walks.
