Biomedical Engineering, Texas A&M University
Reagan (Isbell) Oliphant is from Colleyville, Texas, and holds a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University in Honors Biomedical Engineering with a minor in Spanish and certificate in International Engineering. During her undergraduate career, Oliphant served in numerous ambassadorship roles through Texas A&M Maroon Coats and TANSA (Texas A&M National Scholar Ambassadors) and was inspired to pursue medicine after advocating for the healthcare needs of on-campus contract service workers with Ags REACH. She also spent a summer working in Rwanda to repair broken medical equipment and designed processes to improve biotechnology use in low-resource hospital environments. She has previously participated in research at Texas A&M and the Houston Methodist Research Institute in the fields of nanoparticles, orthopedics, nuclear magnetic resonance imaging, and regenerative medicine.
Oliphant graduated summa cum laude in May 2023 and was named Outstanding Senior Engineer. She is passionate about the impact of health on socioeconomic empowerment and wants to channel her skills as a physicianeer to improve healthcare accessibility through engineering, education, and technology. Oliphant is particularly interested in child development and mobility and chose to attend EnMed to help her achieve her goals of creating low-cost ways for children with disabilities to live independent and fulfilling lives. She volunteers in her Houston community at spinal cord/stroke clinics, leads nutrition classes to middle schoolers, and teaches children with disabilities to ice skate. Outside of medicine, she enjoys spending her time rock climbing, running, and sewing!
