Ashley Chuong is from Mansfield, Texas, and graduated summa cum laude from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering with Engineering Honors. As an undergraduate student, Ashley was a finalist for the Craig Brown Outstanding Senior Engineer Award. Additionally, she served as the president of Engineers Serving the Community, a project-based engineering service organization, where she worked with local non-profits and the Sam Houston National Forest to rebuild infrastructure.
As a member of the Bioinspired Translational Systems Laboratory, Ashley conducted research to develop an ovarian cancer tumor-on-a-chip model to study angiogenesis. She also wrote an undergraduate thesis using the aforementioned model to study drug relapse as a member of the Undergraduate Research Scholars program. Additionally, Ashley has completed research internships at the Houston Methodist Academic Institute in the Department of Bioenergetics and Birkbeck, University of London in the Rosalind Franklin Molecular Biology Lab.
Ashley chose to attend EnMed due to the school’s innovative curriculum and mission to use engineering to improve healthcare. Additionally, the school’s team-based approach and focus on cutting-edge technology aligned with her goals of improving the field of medicine and the lives of patients.
In her free time, Ashley enjoys playing pickleball, trivia, rock climbing, and Aggie football. She’s also an avid reader, cook, and TV enthusiast.
