Biological Engineering, Utah State University
Keetch Mecham is from Tremonton, Utah, USA and received a Bachelor of Science in Biological Engineering from Utah State University. During his undergraduate career at USU, Keetch participated in many diverse organizations and experiences, including working as a medical assistant, a teaching assistant, a peer mentor for incoming students, an undergraduate research assistant, a Spanish-speaking tutor for local high school students, and a mentor at a residential treatment facility for boys. Keetch also acted as a founding member of the USU Aggie Red Cross Club, the President of the Covey Fellows at the Stephen R. Covey Leadership Center in the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business, and as a four-year USU Ambassador. Keetch is also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter DayLatter-Day Saints and served as volunteer missionary for two years in southeastern Washington where he learned Spanish fluently.
While he has always wanted to be a doctor, Keetch was inspired by his dad, an aerospace engineer, to study engineering, which has led him to discover a passion for tackling complex problems in a systematic, principle-based way. After graduation from USU, he built his engineering skills working as a quality engineer for Northrop Grumman Propulsion Systems- building solid rocket boosters for many different customers, including for NASA’s Artemis program.
Keetch chose EnMed because he has a passion for interdisciplinary problem solving and believes that training at the intersection of engineering and medicine will open up new opportunities to care for patients in previously undiscovered and undervalued ways. He hopes to blend his engineering experience, desire to help patients, and focus on principle-centered leadership to improve patient care.
In his free time, Keetch can be found spending time with his friends and family, on the golf course, trying a new recipe, or in the crowd of one of his favorite bands.
