Biomedical Engineering, University of Texas at Austin
Parth Malaviya is a global citizen, having lived in various parts of India, South Africa, Hungary, the Midwest, and the southern United States. He has settled in the Lone Star State, earning his bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering with honors from The University of Texas at Austin.
During his undergraduate studies, Malaviya operated at the intersection of health, technology, and engineering. He conducted research on pH-sensitive nanoparticles and drug delivery systems to advance non-parenteral therapies for populations suffering from rheumatoid arthritis. Beyond bench research, Malaviya applied his expertise in clinical settings, collaborating with a cross-disciplinary team of surgeons, faculty, and staff at Dell Medical School and the Cockrell School of Engineering to develop innovative gamma probe imaging techniques for sentinel lymph node biopsies. His dedication to research earned him the Undergraduate Research Fellowship, where he explored the potential link between pediatric educational interventions and improved financial, physical, and mental well-being in participant families.
Beyond academics, Malaviya is deeply committed to teaching and civic engagement. He has served as a student leader and mentor in several organizations, including the North Texas Food Bank, Ascension-Seton Hospital, Telehealth Access for Seniors, and the Alpha Eta Mu Beta Honor Society. Before entering medical school, Parth worked as a management consultant in the digital health sector, where he contributed to the innovation and strategic planning efforts of a large State government health agency to improve access and enrollment in critical benefits for some of the most vulnerable populations in the country.
Malaviya found a natural fit at EnMed due to the program’s emphasis on translational research and development, clinical excellence, and a collaborative culture. The program’s partnerships with top-tier hospitals and faculty, such as Houston Methodist, provide a robust foundation for his future professional growth.
In his free time, Malaviya enjoys playing pick-up soccer, experimenting with Indian fusion cooking, baking, and hiking in alpine lakes and mountains.
