• Ashmi Patel (M3) recently presented a radiation oncology and urology primary research project titled “A Feasibility Study on Utilizing a Cadaveric Training Model for Novel Robotic Bladder Cancer Brachytherapy Techniques” at the American Brachytherapy Society’s 2022 conference in Denver.

  • The Society for Science announced that Dr. Roderic I. Pettigrew was elected to their board of trustees. “As a global leader in health, medicine and engineering, I am thrilled to welcome Roderic to the board of trustees,” said Maya Ajmera.

  • For Rhome Hughes, M.D., teaching is a passion. “I believe the most effective teachers are mentors who are capable of helping students identify their individual strengths and weaknesses by providing constructive pathways for continued development,” said Hughes.

  • Ian Murray, Ph.D., was among 92 faculty members celebrated by Texas A&M University’s Center for Teaching Excellence in May who earned credentials through the Instructional Excellence Project. To date, 160 faculty have earned the credential through the initiative.

  • As the nation returns to a new normal, the Society of Science hosted its 2022 Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair in Atlanta on May 11.

  • Five EnMed students were inducted into the 2023 Golden Humanism Honor Society (GHHS). The inductees include Antara Dattagupta, Lauren Fitzgerald, Amelia Khoo, Cailin O’Connell and Ashmi Patel.

  • A new cohort of 46 students making up the class of 2026 arrived in the EnMed program on May 31. For the first 10 weeks, students are immersed in several introductory engineering activities during the Introduction to Engineering Innovation in Medicine course.

  • Prachi Priya, M.D., has joined EnMed’s faculty this spring bringing rich experience as a clinical practitioner, lecturer and business leadership. She has held a number of roles in the U.S. healthcare system and taught anatomy, physiology, microbiology and pharmacology at a number of colleges.

  • Practical application is central to any profession, especially medicine. A host of medical students, including five participants from the EnMed program, traveled to Peru to assist in a medical mission during Spring Break in March.

  • The EnMed story was prominently featured in an industry publication of the Radiological Society of North America, addressing the shifting paradigm of medical education that focuses on health care innovations as the catalyst for a new revolution.

  • Dr. Roderic Pettigrew represented EnMed at the joint meeting of the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, the European Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine and Biology and the International Society for Magnetic Resonance Radiographers & Technologists in London May 7-12.

  • The Texas A&M School of Engineering Medicine (EnMed) was awarded the VentureWell E-Team CloSure! grant. The grant will assist students in maintaining a positive experience and ensure the continued health, safety and wellbeing of the innovator community.
