Bioengineering, Rice University
Originally from Oklahoma City, Akshaya Santhanaraj joins EnMed with a bachelor’s degree in bioengineering from Rice University.
“I chose EnMed because having the ability to pinpoint problems in healthcare as a physician is really important,” she said. “I want to work with low-resource settings as a physician and be able to address gaps in medicine and develop sustainable solutions that can improve healthcare for many communities.”
Akshaya has a passion for women’s health and previously worked on a global health engineering internship in Malawi. Outside of school, she enjoys climbing, playing the guitar, running, and tea-making.
