Basil Alias comes to EnMed from Dallas, where he attended the University of Texas-Dallas and attained a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering with a focus on biomedical imaging and diagnostics.
He previously worked at a medical imaging startup developing hardware and software for local analysis of medical imaging and diagnostic findings. He then worked at Orthofix in new product development and in specials as the lead design assurance engineer, developing, testing and producing spinal implants and instrumentation. During his time at Orthofix he was also the lead engineer for the development of MRI safety and analytics for all spinal implants, and began revamping the company’s post-market data analytics and metrics.
Basil says that he chose EnMed for the opportunity to collaborate and learn from his classmates and make an impactful difference over the next four years. His current research interests include medical imaging, dynamic surgical implants, diagnostics and surgical optimization.
When he’s not busy studying, you can find him playing basketball, reading Manga, painting, fishing, working on cars and 3D printing.
