Biophysics, University of Southern California

Biomedical Engineering, University of Southern California

Koby Reid received his bachelor’s degree in biophysics and master’s degree in biomedical engineering from the University of Southern California (USC).

While attending USC, he worked in the Brain Body Dynamics Lab on tendon-driven robots and neuromuscular motor control in athletes. After graduating, Reid started his own research and development consulting business to work with early-stage medical device startups.

With future career aspirations in rural general surgery or wilderness medicine, Reid has an interest in distributing healthcare to people in inaccessible locations. Whether through telesurgery for patients in rural towns, portable medical devices for backcountry hikers, or running a code on an astronaut in space, he says that he wants to find logistical and technological solutions for delivering medical care.

Originally from Lakewood, CA, Reid enjoys backpacking, fishing, playing guitar, and cooking when he’s not busy studying. He will also never turn down the opportunity to start a totally unnecessary DIY project.
