Kaleb Barker is from Nixa, Missouri, and graduated cum laude from Brigham Young University with a bachelor of science in Mechanical Engineering. At BYU, Barker was involved in biomechanics research and shear wave elastography research in the exercise science department, including a presentation at the ACSM conference in Los Angeles. He was a TA for biochemistry, organic chemistry, and anatomy lab, as well as an instructor for the organic chemistry lab. In his senior capstone project, he was the team lead in designing and testing a novel orthopedic drill for faster rotator cuff repairs, which is currently being patented.
Barker spends his free time outdoors. He is an Eagle Scout, as well as an avid skier and volunteer ski instructor, marathon runner, backpacker, and mountaineer (when in Utah, at least). His favorite adventure has been climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro with his five brothers and parents. He also enjoys music and played the trumpet in the university concert band for four years. Barker is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a volunteer missionary in the Republic of Kiribati from 2016-18, where he spoke Kiribati. He continues to love experiencing other cultures around the world.
