Hailing from Silicon Valley, CA, Souradeep Bhattacharya double majored in Bioengineering and Electrical Engineering from the University of California Riverside. During his undergraduate career, Bhattacharya pursued research in signals of opportunity based navigation in the ASPIN lab. He also volunteered to help teach engineering to students all over the Inland Empire, culminating in teaching a course on machine learning.
Bhattacharya went on to work at KLA (formerly KLA-Tencor) as a high-performance computing engineer. There he quickly rose through the ranks and was eventually a lead engineer responsible for the end-to-end development of a brand-new product. While at KLA he simultaneously completed two master’s degrees, one in Biomedical Imaging from the University of California San Fransisco and Medical Sciences from Brown University. Upon graduating from Brown, he joined Intuitive Surgical as a Software Engineer in the Single Port Endoscope Group. He remained there until his matriculation in to the ENMED Program at Texas A&M.
Bhattacharya enjoys volunteering at local food banks, mentoring FIRST Robotics, and spending time with his Dalmatian, Leia. He is also an avid photographer and pilot.
